Identifying, translating, and disseminating research findings and evidence-based public health best practices in dementia caregiving is a main goal of the PHCOE-DC. This page contains a collection of materials, tools, and best-practices that public health agencies can use to support family members, friends, and other unpaid individuals who care for people living with dementia in their communities.

Successful Public Health Approaches in Dementia Caregiving: Colorado A Virtual Roundtable Series
In each episode of this virtual round-table series we will highlight the story of one state that has successfully implemented a state-wide integrated approach to advancing its dementia caregiving goals. The session will begin with an overview of the state’s past, current and future efforts to support dementia caregivers, followed by an interactive conversation and Q&A with key takeaways and ideas for action. This series offers a great opportunity for knowledge exchange, peer-learning and idea generation. In this episode we will present the story of Colorado.

GWEPs Partnering with Departments of Public Health on Dementia Education
This session featured presentations about opportunities available for dementia education in primary care and explored how GWEPs can partner with public health departments, community-based organizations (CBOs), and primary care clinics. This session featured presentations from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and showcased examples of state-based partnerships in Oklahoma, Minnesota, and New York.

State Policies on Caregiving: Opportunities for Supporting Dementia Caregivers
There is great variation in how states approach caregiving and the policies and programs they enact to support family caregivers. In this webinar, we will take stock of the current landscape of state policies designed to support family caregivers, with a special focus on caregivers of people living with dementia. Drawing from the policy approaches of New York and Illinois, we will discuss successful strategies, identify policy gaps and highlight key opportunities for innovation in state level caregiving policies.
